  • With 23-year old Officer Russel Timoshenko still in very grave condition, the search continues for police shooting suspects. The second wounded officer, 26-year old Herman Yan, was released from the hospital yesterday. One suspect has been apprehended. Lee Woods, is already under arrest on attempted murder and other charges. Coming out of the station house last night he said, eloquently, "I ain't do nothing". Woods, whose fingerprints were found on a box of Popeyes chicken in the stolen BMW SUV is pointing his fingers at the other 2 dudes who are still at large: Dexter Bostic (left) and Robert J. Ellis (right) both 34-years old from Queens. Dexter's mom was on TV last night pleading for her son to turn himself in.

  • Hustler publisher Larry Flynt, already on a hunt for Washington sex scandals, has teamed up with a powerful new ally: "D.C. Madam" Deborah Jeane Palfrey. It's an alignment born from coincidental interests: Flynt wants to expose Washington hypocrites, and Palfrey has a long list of people who probably qualify. Senator David Vitter a Republican from Louisiana became their first victim when a Flynt investigator linked the Senators name to an old telephone number on Palfrey's client list. Vitter's exposure yesterday should put any other conservative Republican with skeletons in their closet on notice: Start practicing your mea culpas!

  • The dollar continues its descent into record low territory against Das Euro amid fears about the health of the U.S. economy. The 13-nation currency traded as high as $1.38 overnight before settling back to $1.37 by afternoon in Europe. Meanwhile, The British pound hit a new 26-year high against the dollar, rising to $2.03 its highest level since June 1981. Damn, it feels good to be a banker.

  • I'd better start remembering some good stories because today its slowwwwwwwwwwww in the news department. Maybe I should knock on wood.

  • Oh and finally, my boy John McCain continues to hemorrhage presidential campaign staffers. His finance director has now resigned. Just the other day his campaign manager and longtime chief political strategist also peaced out too.
