Does this paper make me look fat?

I nearly forgot today is the first day with the newly cropped New York Times! Das Times joins The WSJ, the Washington Post, and the LA Times with their move to the 12 inch-width format.

It's a bit better than the former 13" six-column broadsheet format but you'll still be wearing it like a scarf if you try reading it on the train or the bus.

The Times expects to save $7-10 million a year with the change but in true Times fashion the paper will stay the same price ($1.25 on weekdays and Saturday, $4 on the weekend) and will charge the same amount to advertisers. Sweet!
