Art should not be made by the well-adjusted and normal

The Painter Frida Kahlo. Polio as a child. Stormy marriages. Lifelong pain from a bad bus accident.

The Poet Rimbaud. Serial runaway. Absinthe and hashish benders. Shot by poet-lover Verlaine.

The Composer Beethoven. Sixteen when mom died. Went deaf at height of his gift. Chronic pain.

The Writer Jean Genet. Mom a prostitute. As was he. Put up for adoption. Vagabond. Thief.

I love Jean Genet, an inspirational character indeed, embodies the normalcy that homosexuality should be like, rather than this camp queen stereotype that many in the gay community change themselves, so they may conform to it.
