The Karlton Hines Story

"Beginning at the age of 12, Karlton Hines was destined for the basketball court, tearing up the pavement at the street pickup games he would invariably win. But Karlton was pulled in another direction as well, called to the life of the street; reaching college age he attracted attention from every top Division I college in the country, but he was reluctant to abandon his roots. While coaches ventured to the projects from their suburban enclaves, Karlton got more and more involved with the underground world of the street, and at 18 he was a major player in the drug industry. Karlton's fate, however, was not one he would ultimately choose, as he met his tragic end at the wrong end of a gun barrel."

I can tell you this, as much money as Courtland was bring in back in the day, cats weren't on the computer (LOL). I'm in DC now, straight legit, just be searching bout different cats from the hood in my spare time & reading all the lies & blown out of proportion stories.. I can tell you 1st hand, when it came to the Blacktop, with C's talent, height, weight, strength, speed & heart, not too many cats could touch C. C & I played Gaucho's 2gether. Went to Orlando, Daytona Beach, Vegas, Iowa, Boston & (I know I'm missing a few cities) 2gether. We played 3 years 2gether on the Gaucho's & in numerous city tournaments 2gether. The 1 year he missed out with us cause he broke his jam & his shit was wired shut & Lou (Owner of the Gaucho's) wouldn't take him out of the city like that. But I be damn, that mofo lead us to the AAU City Championships over River side (River side had Malik Sealy, Conrad McCrae, Sean Green, Adrian (RED) Autrey)just to name a few cats that went big time D1, & C bust their ass with his shit wired shut... However, don't get it twisted. When C picked up them drugs, it was a different story. The CAT "Hollis Crew" is right. Pete caught C & a few cats in his crew slipping. After he hit C up, he came right through Courtland looking for any of them cats in C's crew that wanted to do something about it. No 1 said a word. Blast & them tried to follow Pete 1 day & whomever on here is really from Courtland, know he laid their asses down too. If you really grew up on Courtland, was C's 1st cousin, best friend or whatever. Then you should know the real story behind Courtland Ave. Even B.O., Cats know C was paying him strong arm money. I told C B.O. can't protect him out of the hood. B.O. had cats thinking he was that nigga too. Had C thinking he could protect him & C was paying him. They laid his ass down too (bless him too).. Courtland Ave. was & always will be known for getting money, talking shit & killin their own, but when it comes to a cat outside of the projects doing something to a cat from Melrose or Jackson’s, no 1 stands 2gether to take care of anything.. How many cats got killed out there & none of their crew did a thing about it. Starting way back with Lance aka LA (found him on the bridge in his Black BMW).. Luckily, 2 Low Key Old School cats put me onto Courtland when I came back from college & got side tracked & started getting a little money. I quickly took my show on the road. DC, Jersey & Boston. Stayed low key, kept every1 out of my business, still played ball in da hood, saved s little stash, now living in DC own a house with a family.. I go back to the hood all the time 2 see what's up with Courtland & it's a sad place now. Cats selling mixed drinks in the little quarter water bottles. What the ^&$^%#^# is a nutty butty?

Not trying to disrespect the dead here, but it's because of movies & cats lying about the real stories of the streets that so many of us & our young cats get sucked into the game. Our fathers are dead, in jail or on the block 24/7.. All our young cats see is the money, the ladies & the cars, not seeing the lying, deceiving, stealing, the bullets, crooked cops. Any1 that says the streets is easy money, I know right then & there they have never been in the streets a day in their life. If they have, nothing like easy money would ever come out of their mouth. C didn't get killed cause a cat was jealous of him. C thought no 1 could touch him like the Blacktop, did some crutty things & got caught slippin.. U cats from Courtland on here (if u really from Courtland) do u remember that Blue MPV C use to drive.. If you don't know, Take that as a hint & back track.. Remember downtown by central park. Another hint. God bless his soul, as good a person C was b4 the drug money came in. In the streets, he started being capable of some crutty stuff he thought he could get away with because every1 literally loved him when he stepped on the court & his personality was good too.

I'm out

Karlton was just too nice of a guy to be a drug dealing kingpin like that. He didn't realize in that world you always gotta be lookin out for someone else lookin to take over. everybody loved Karlton and he surrounded himself by all these other dudes who worshipped him. they had a nice run as the kings of courtland but pistol pete was a REAL gangbanger and he just came through and put an end to the monkey business. Karlton was ambitous and he made things happen but he wasn't wired for the streets like the real killers are and were back then. he was wired for the court, he was charasmatic but he didn't have the instincts to survive on the streets ESPECIALLY when you start taking serious cake you can't trust nobody. Karlon was paying his boy Bee'O to be like his bodyguard but Bee'O knew he was no bodyguard, Bee'O was just taking the money. Bee 'O knew he couldn't stop Pistol Pete or anyone else from rollin through and taking out Karltons whole crew and one day thats exactly what he did. Pistol Pete went away for some other shit, drugs and racketeering and he'll be in jail for life plus like 100 years the judge gave him but the streets knew what went down. Pistol Pete came in there and just did it for the why not. To show that he was a real dude and Karlton was playing "my first drug deal" on the block, not knowing his back door was wide open the whole time. It's a sad story kid, real sad

I was on and off Courtland and was very close to Karlton. You're right, he was too "human", and too good for the streets. But remember, the guys he looked up to were not stone cold killers. He looked up to Coop and Alpo - one generation behind what was coming ahead: the go for broke gangsters that shoot to kill.

I was there when Karlton killed Tweety and he was crushed that he did it. So that really didn't make him a killer, per se. Even tho he got mad respect on the streets, he never wanted to do that again.

Did Karlton and Rollack have a fist fight? Or was it Karlton and someone in Rollack's crew?

R.I.P.KARLTON aka c.town aka c I grew up in the melrose pjs 3050 and the try 0 4 my fam is still there the messed up part about all this is c could've been one of the greatest playas in the nba. He had the drive but when anyone is touched by the street life its like a bad disease once u got it u got it we all know aint no way in hell a kat get murk and have 5 stacks in his pocket it was a statement c was gettin too damn big and gettin too much money and fam behind it cuz he had the love of the hood anr he can play ball well. Pete killed him to become what he is I visit the hood often and its nothin like it was back when I was growin up c got killed a day before my bday in 94 I use to see the homie rydin arounr in his fancy cars and flossin major chips I admire homie cuz I didn't know the homie was into that kinda life until I got grown and the old heads would talk. I can say this if anybdoy would come to melrose day back in the days of richie adams and future and watch c play they'll all say the dude was a monster on the court tragically he got caught in the streets and in this world the whorst thing is a waste of talent I visit the hood often cuz my fam is still there and its nothin like it was of the days of t-mack ricky tone green eyes ranee c kenny and several of thr big homies, its now ran by these lil kats with no respect for life or nobdody back in those days nothin went on in the hood without the big homies okay it was a lot safer back then yeah we got busy but it was with honoe love.and respect now its like every man for himself and no honor amongst a flock of wolves.
