Yo everybody chill; MF Doom is doing aiight, I think

Lots of rumours out there about my boy MF Doom. And I doubt he'd want it any other way.

After Doom allegedly sent in an impostor to play his show in San Fran in August and subsequently canceled the rest of his tour he was scheduled to play the New York-Tokyo Music Festival on 22 September.

The masked sadist never showed, of course, and it was announced that Doom canceled “because he’s in the hospital fighting or his life.”

Rakim played a short set in his place and even apparently offered a “moment of silence” for Doom.

But one of Doom’s labels, Stones Throw, issued a statement denying those rumors last week. It read, in part:

"Every day for the past month we’ve been hit up by people wanting explanations, statements, clarifications, and declarations about MF DOOM. Is he lip syncing? (No. Listen to the videos on Youtube.) Is he an impostor? (No, but he did lose some pounds.) Is he in the hospital? (No, he’s in his studio… or if not there, you can find him in the pub with the grub stain.)"
Reached at his home in Georgia, an alive and well MF DOOM issued this statement: “What up? I’m dead.”

Devin Horwitz, a close friend of Doom’s and president of Nature Sounds, another of the rapper’s labels, says “Doom was sick but it was nothing life threatening. He wasn’t feeling well before, but he’s fine now, and fans don’t need to be concerned.”

Horwitz says he hasn’t spoken with him specifically regarding the New York-Tokyo Music Festival or the San Fran show, but adds that he seriously doubts Doom ever used an impostor or lip-synced.

The Stones Throw link is now dead, which is perhaps not surprising, as it raises more questions that it answers. First of all, YouTube videos like this one (check out the 1:20 mark) are more incriminating than exonerating.

Second, why deny the existence of an impostor, without explaining what happened at the gig?

And third, if Doom’s so healthy he’s cavorting at pubs, why does he keep missing shows?

Maybe this is the craziest publicity stunt Doom has pulled. Maybe he’s actually been dead for six weeks. Fuck, Doom, what up?

I can't speak for the show in San Francisco where MF DOOM was alleged to have sent an imposter in his place to perform, however, I will let it be known that MF DOOM was not in the building at MJQ last Thursday. Instead he sent an imposter in his place and the imposter has a name to! His name is DJ Wesu! My best guess is that Doom pocketed the $5000 I wired him a month before the show in Atlanta while the rest of the loot must have went to those shady ass - fuckers Mobonix, Killa K and Wesu who took the entire door and split with Doom out the back door.

Look at the links to the photos provided below and compare each other and tell me what you really think! It's so obvious! The last 2 images are the most compelling since Wesu and the alleged MF DOOM imposter share the same scar on the right hand.

DOOMbots

His most frequently-used robots are his "Doombots," exact mechanical replicas of the real MF DOOM. They look like him, talk like him, and even act like him.

Individually, Doombots have an advanced A.I. program that causes them to believe themselves to be the real MF DOOM. In order to prevent his duplicates from harming or out-performing him, MF DOOM installs each Doombot with a dampener program that reduces all of its abilities when activated. This program is triggered whenever a Doombot enters MF DOOM's presence or the presence of other Doombots. These imitation Dooms have been created to impersonate MF DOOM when he either cannot be present or is unwilling to risk his own life (such as when confronting powerful foes)

The man is a genius and lives his persona even in real life. . . . . basically he's fukking mental

MF DOOM, the single most interesting character to ever be involved in Hip Hop. Hate it or love it.

From the Netherlands I have to say: "big word to the man above". MFDoom is original as well as he's one of the best rappers a life, if not the best.

Afcourse don't show up on your performances and let someone else do the work isn't right. But I think there's a good reason to do that. Maybe he's working on his upcoming Madvillain album? Or another Dangerdoom album. Which are both very welcome.

I've to say, that I hadn't thought that Doom was able to let imposters do his work. Hopefully he can let this behind so he can concentrate on his upcoming albums and hopefully Doom learned from this, so he doesn't book concerts when he's not able to come.

^^^^^^^

Working on a new album is a good reason to literally steal money from fans and concert venues? Are you fucking kidding me? Doom hasn't even been working on anything in nearly two years. That's why Madlib did Madvillainy "2" Remix and why the Ghostface/MF album has been on the shelves for a year now collecting dust waiting to be finished. He's been pulling the impostor bit for years now. TWICE at Rock The Bells.

Regardless of how busy he may be, he still has an obligation to his fans/label constituents and the like. If he can't make a show, then own up to it and let everyone know ahead of time. If he is doing this on purpose, to uphold some kind of image or to be different and stir everyone up, then count me out for all the future show i would have gone to.
