A few weeks ago there was that video on YouTube of that posse of black girls beating up that white dude with an empty, plastic bottle on the A train. Some poor bastard was shot while waiting for the J last week. And now some dude responded "Happy Hanukkah" to some people who wished him a "Merry Christmas" and they beat him up on a Q train.

Not only does it come while subway violence is a big topic, it also involves a group of Jewish subway riders being called "dirty Jews" and "Jew bitches" and attacked by people who cried, "Happy Hanukkah, that's when the Jews killed Jesus." And here's the kicker: The only person who stepped in to stop the beating was a Muslim rider! One of the victims, Walter Adler, said, "A random Muslim guy jumped in and helped a Jewish guy on Hanukkah - that's a miracle." ”

I wish someone had beaten up that fraud, Patrick Moberg.

Reports say New York City's subways have gotten significantly safer in the last 17 years, with serious crimes in the underground decreasing dramatically.

New statistics show about 2,700 serious felonies were reported in the subway system last year, compared to more than 17,000 in 1990. The totals include robberies, assaults, grand larcenies, rapes, murders and burglaries.

The NYPD's Transit Bureau chief calls the decline "pretty amazing.'' Even he's shocked.

Nearly 5 million riders take the subway each weekday, and about half that each weekend day.
