Kelly Clamps Down On Cop Bears, Mustaches Still O.K.

Police Commish Ray Kelly has ordered a revision to the NYPD's appearance guidelines and facial hair on cops is now VERBOTEN!

No full beards, no goatees, no chinstrap beards, and no highly sculpted metrosexual facial hair patterns. Mustaches, of course, are still acceptable.

But now that I'm thinking about it, I can't recall the last time I saw a police beard. Certainly the cop mustache will always be in full effect but very rarely have I seen a cop sporting a Farley Mowat or even a well-manicured porn beard.

Perhaps this crackdown is aimed at the rank and file rookies who go for that rustic five o'clock shadow man in uniform fantasy.
