Weekend At Virgilio's

While you were out doing whatever it is that you do, two men were wheeling a dead man through the streets of New York in an office chair. They were trying to roll him to a check-cashing store so they could cash his $355 Social Security check. Well, duh!

Virgilio Cintron, the dead guy, was James O'Hare's roommate.

So James O'Hare recruited his friend David Dalaia, both 65, and the two pushed Virgilio Cintron's lifeless body from the Manhattan apartment they shared to Pay-O-Matic, about a block away.

Witnesses saw the duo pushing the chair with Virgilio flopping from side to side and the two individuals propping him up and keeping him from falling off.

The men left Virgilio's body outside the store, went inside and tried to cash his $355 check.

The clerk at the Pay-O-Matic knew Virgilio and asked the men where he was. James O'Hare told the clerk they would go and get him!

A police detective who was having lunch at a restaurant next to the Pay-O-Matic store noticed a crowd forming around Virgilio's body, and it became immediately apparent to the dining detective that the man in the chair was dead.

The detective called uniformed cops at a nearby precinct. EMT's arrived as O'Hare and Dalaia were preparing to actually wheel Virgilio's body into the check-cashing store. The two were arrested on the spot.

Virgilio's body was taken to the morgue. The medical examiner's office told police it appeared Virgilio was 66 and had died of natural causes within the previous 24 hours.

Dalaia and O'Hare, both 65, were being held by police and faced check fraud charges.
