Randi Rhodes wasn't attacked

The Talking Radio blog reported yesterday that liberal talk radio host Randi Rhodes was mugged and brutally attacked while walking her dog near 39th Street and Park Avenue, but the NYPD can't confirm the report.

Late night Air America Radio host Jon Elliott continued to stir the cauldron waxing Rhodes was beaten up pretty badly, losing several teeth and will probably be off the air for at least the rest of the week.

Elliott was extremely agitated when he reported on the incident. He opened his show by saying "it is with sadness that tonight I inform you that my Air America colleague Randi Rhodes was assaulted last night while walking her dog near her New York City home."

Pointing out that Rhodes was wearing a jogging suit and displayed no purse or jewelry, Elliott speculated that "this does not appear to me to be a standard grab the money and run mugging."

Well, I spoke to some insiders last night and Randi wasn't attacked, we think she just fell down or slipped or some shit. People are trying to turn this into Alan Berg or Whats The Frequency Kenneth? but it's just not true.

Regardless, Randi is good people and her show is worth listening to so if this gets her press, good for her.

Randi was born Randi Bueten in Brooklyn; Rhodes is a stage name chosen to honor Ozzy Osbourne's guitar player Randy Rhoads, whom Rhodes describes as "a consummate professional ... who lived to be the best."

The Randi Rhodes Show airs weekdays from 3 to 6 pm on Air America... 1600 AM in New York or XM channel 167
