I somehow got to talking to Double R about our mutual unilateral hearing loss from spending years on the loud road and that got me thinking about hearing aids and such which then got me thinking with the wild advancements made in the field of corrective ocular surgery (LASIK, refractive, Photorefractive keratectomy, wavefront, "CustomCornea", etc.) are similar things possible and/or on the horizon for hearing impairment? Anybody out there know? How long until we can make the deaf hear? How beautiful will that be to give someone the gift of sound after a lifetime of silence!
